A VISIT WITH OKLAHOMA FRIENDS!

(NOTE: Yes, I'm making my THIRD post today. It's hot out and Brandon's napping, Gunner's in front of the idiot box (TV) so here's the next story.)

Our friends from Oklahoma (Jamie, Susan, Katie & Allison) were in the area for vacation and we met them for the day at their favorite place! Jamie....sorry you didn't make in any of our few photos. Gunner and Katie became an ITEM for the day. Gunner cried when we parted ways... awww!! We had a busy, fun-filled 12 hour day with them! We all enjoyed our time together and it's always fun to be with friends.

Also, that day was my birthday. I am officially 39. I will not celebrate anymore numbers from this point forward. Birthdays will be celebrated with happiness and cheer, but no more counting!! It was also a great day because it was the last day of my week off from chemo. I had plenty of energy for all the heat and walking.

Here's the big kids after the Buzz Lightyear ride. Allison on left, Gunner & Katie.

Gunner and Katie had to sit together on the train.

Susan and Allison on the train...
This is Gunner's pirate face. We were by the pirate ride.
The big kids again making pirate faces..........
Gunner and Katie.......told you they were an ITEM........they held hands a lot that day!
Here's the two acting silly again! They had such a fun time!! We all did!

As I was posting these photos, I realized Brandon is not in ANY of them. He was there too. Maybe Jamie and Susan got some? I know they took a few of Jeff and me along the way.

Anyway......a great time was had by all. Even though we waited out a few showers and it got hot, it definitely goes in the memory banks.

Gunner's Birthday

We didn't have a big party this year for Gunner's birthday, but we did celebrate nonetheless. He picked out a Hot Wheels cake at the grocery and we celebrated with his preschool class one day. We got balloons and gave little sand buckets with glow bracelets, stickers, candy & sidewalk chalk to his classmates. I don't have any photos from that event because I actually used the 35mm with film and haven't developed the pics yet.

Anyway, the night of the preschool birthday celebration, we all enjoyed cake too......especially Brandon! Here's a few photos....and the balloon says it all!

Gunner tried to eat like Brandon (guess he was desperate for MORE attention?)

On his birthday, we surprised Gunner with a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's for dinner and games. He decided to dress as a cowboy. The new bandana was a gift from Maw-maw (great grandmother) that he received in the mail that day. We had a lot of fun!!

Nothing like that first hot slice of pizza!!

Pop and Gunner enjoying the festivities!

What a cool "ride"! I forgot the Chuck E. Cheese's name for this horse ride, but it was something like the Kentucky Derby. Gunner was definitely dressed the part for horse riding, and he rode it several times while we were there. Brandon got one chance, but he preferred Pop shooting the basketballs.

Well, Gunner, we hope you enjoyed your day! Happy Birthday to our 5 year old!

Mother's Tea and Mother's Day

MOTHER'S TEA
This was my place setting at the Mother's Tea at Gunner's school earlier in May. They worked on their alphabet books all year. He made the place mat and the flower pen & holder. The children sang us two songs and we had snacks and drinks. It was a really fun time! Below is Gunner standing near the wall of artwork. Each child had 3 things displayed and he is close to his pieces - The snowman with the red scarf, the flower pot and the farmer.

MOTHER'S DAY

Before breakfast Gunner decided to give me some of the cards and artwork he'd made. I had gotten ready except for drying my hair.

After church, I received more artwork and cards! The flowers were made in Bible class that morning and the big envelope was made on Wednesday night. He had made me promise not to open it until Mother's Day.

This was the huge card inside the envelope. Gunner's penmanship gets better all the time. I love getting these gifts......they're priceless!!

Brandon was a Pop's boy on Mother's Day, but that's OK. He was wanting Jeff to hold him instead of me, but Jeff had to take the photo.

The funniest thing was another item Gunner brought home from school. It was a fancy blouse made out of paper on a hanger and he had glued buttons and "lace" on it. Inside was the following (italicized words are Gunner's):

My mommy is nice. She is about 8 years old. She has grayish blackish hair and blue eyes. While I am at school, she cleans. The best thing my mommy cooks is meat but I don't like her sweet potatoes very much. She makes me laugh when she is silly. She plays with me a lot. She looks so pretty when she's going to church. I like to play hide and seek with her. I know my mommy loves me because she gives me kisses and hugs me. I love her too!!

I had a great Mother's Day!

Outdoor Fun

May 2, 2008

Here are the boys enjoying the Cadillac. In the background you can see where Daddy was still working on the rocks in the back yard. My house is now staying much cleaner since we're not tracking in all the dirt/sand from next to the porch where the grass had "disappeared".

Gunner didn't realize I was taking a photo, he was being soooo serious!

I LOVE THIS PHOTO!

March/April Photos

It's been TOO long since I've posted any pictures, so here's a few from late March and the month of April.

(April 12) This is the lizard that decided to live on Brandon's window during the day. Brandon was just mesmerized anytime he would see the lizard on his window. We would have to pull the shade for him to take a nap or he would stay up "talking" to the lizard! After a cool spell about a week later, the lizard hasn't been back.

(April 22) Granny Patty and Grandpa Pete brought the Cadillac down with them this visit. Daddy said it wasn't doing any good gathering dust in his garage when the boys could be enjoying it in their own yard. Gunner was so glad to see it. He also enjoyed taking Brandon for a spin. Brandon didn't like it at first, but now he has a fit if Gunner's outside riding and he's not! Thanks Grandpa Pete for disassembly and re-assembly!!

(March 26) Just a great smile from Brandon one night while I was cleaning up the kitchen. Since he's not yet walking on is own, the Exersaucer is a nice place for him to play.

(March 29) Gunner has decided that he likes to suck on lemons. We drink lemon in our water quite often. On this evening while Jeff was grilling Jill's birthday dinner, Gunner asked for a lemon slice. Brandon wanted one too. Don't you just love their faces?

(April 11) I took Gunner and Brandon to the open house at our local PBS station. They had Clifford, Maya & Miguel, Curious George and someone else (I hate old age when I can't remember!). Anyway, we just missed Curious George. The people in front of us were the last to see him, but Gunner was equally happy to get his picture with Clifford. We also got to do some other fun things in the studio.....Gunner got to be on TV (just in the studio) and he thought that was cool. He stood in front of a "green screen" and there were videos of Maya & Miguel playing on the TV sets.

Also at the PBS open house, they had a fire truck for the kids to "inspect" and enjoy. We got there too late for the hats, but Gunner sure enjoyed posing as you can tell. By the way, Jeff weighed Gunner at the YMCA last Sunday afternoon and he was 48 lbs! He won't be 5 til next week and Grandpa Pete measured him at 46.25 inches when they got here at the end of April. I think we're going to have a very tall boy!
