A real date!

Last night Jeff and I had our first date that was not just a dinner out or function to attend without children!! (we hadn't been out in almost 2 years for something other than that) It was also to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary (Feb 13) since we had postponed it due to all my recent health issues.

With Mom & Dad here (= free babysitters) we had no worries about the boys and bedtime.

I met Jeff after his class at an outdoor concert. Thank goodness for cell phones so we could find each other. We took lawn chairs and a blanket and just enjoyed the evening. The concert was from 5 to 10:30. It was smooth jazz with Ray Parker Jr. as the headliner (remember the Ghostbusters song?) The smooth jazz musicians who opened were great and Ray Parker Jr. did pretty good. He did a lot of talking about the past and about the guys in the band with him now and who they used to play for. Brought back LOTS of memories from the 80's. (Unfortunately, we are that old!) All in all, we had a great time sitting under the stars and chillin'. It was so nice to listen to some live music and have a conversation. There were thousands of people there and we stayed til the end.

Looking forward to another date.....hopefully it will come sooner than this one did!

(Unfortunately, I got sick after we got home and was sick throughout the night. Must have been the food we ate there. I'm just not used to eating that junk anymore. We didn't make it to church today, but I felt much better by the afternoon.)

Family Update

Wow time flies. We seem to be busier all the time without adding things to the schedule. How can that be? Oh yeah, Brandon's given up his morning nap! Less time for Mama to have "her time" these days. I'm using Jeff's computer today, so I don't have access to my photos. But here's a quick update on our family:

Jeff & Jenny:

I realized I never mentioned in February that we had our 15th wedding anniversary! It was a very anxious time and right after my cancer diagnosis. We didn't really celebrate, but decided to put the celebration on hold until we got things figured out. I dearly love this man and he has been by my side more than ever since February. We are doing great and thankful that our relationship is mature enough to handle things that come our way.

Jeff:

Still working hard and studying hard. He is my inspiration because of the dedication to us as his family, dedication to his job and dedication to his studies. He gets little time to do the things he actually enjoys.

Gunner:

Wednesday will be his last swimming lesson this month. He truly loves swimming. We'll take off for May and probably do lessons again in June. He's interested in possibly joining a swim team at the Y. He must be able to swim a certain number of feet to join and participate. He only has about a month of preschool left. I can't believe that! I need to get to the elementary school and register him for kindergarten. I'm not ready for that. He's growing up too fast for me. I think he's grown another 1/2 inch in the past month. His birthday is in May and we're deciding whether to go on a pirate adventure or horseback riding. He wants to do both, but he only gets to pick one. We're also going to do cake or cupcakes at the park with his friends. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that he wants to be a redneck when he grows up? He loves country music and his favorite song is the one about the International Harvester. He can almost sing all the words!

Brandon:

He is now 14 months old and still loves to play ball. He looks for airplanes in the sky all the time. He's still just cruising along the furniture, not letting go, but he also enjoys his "walking" toys. Brandon's growing so fast suddenly. Must be all the table food he's eating.....he starts his meal before everyone and is always the last one done. Still having trouble getting him to drink from cups, but we're working on it! He's finally over the ear infections (at least for a while!) and seems to be much happier since he feels good.

Next post will have photos.............

Beach Day

We spent the day at the beach the Friday Spring Break started (March 28). What fun we had!! The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky when we arrived. We stayed all day. Here's some of the photos Aunt Jill took.
