I have finally downloaded the few photos I've taken of Brandon's little casts. I didn't take many last week, but I took a few tonight of his NEW ones. Yes, his NEW ones put on today. By Wednesday night, he had been kicking his feet so much the first week (on the sides of the crib and the tile floors) that he broke the heel of his right cast. Can you believe that? An 11 month old broke a cast!! I called the doctor's office Thursday and they scheduled me to come in today. Another trip downtown - a.m. traffic here is horrendous. It's about a 40 minute drive from the house, but it took over an hour from Gunner's school - the school is even closer.......
They were amazed that he had broken his right cast. His feet had made an improvement :) They took off both casts because his left toes had "disappeared" into that cast. He screamed while they sawed them off and was fine as soon as they turned off the machine. I washed his stinky feet (really, really stinky! yuck......I've not had any experience with casts in the past, so I didn't realized how soured he would smell) There was a small sore on top of his left foot. The new casts are much better and they went on easier although he still cried/screamed the whole time. He was not in pain......he just despises being held down in a position, especially on his back. I told them he will need anger management classes soon!! ha ha
So we survived our morning and stopped by the park before picking Gunner up at school. He really enjoyed the stroller ride and swings. He napped really well this afternoon, so maybe, just maybe, we're getting back on track!
As far as where we are with the cast "therapy" : I have an appt set for Feb 14, but if he is doing fine we need to move it to the following week. Sean (the ARNP we're seeing) wants him to wear the casts for 3 consecutive weeks. They made these casts thicker on his heels, so maybe we won't have this issue again.
Here are the photos:
The NEW casts from today. I didn't think to take a photo like this of the first ones.
This picture is from last week with the OLD casts. He was having a great time in his room dumping out toys everytime I would pick them up.

Thank you for the pictures. I never thought about his clothes needing to fit over the casts!
Clint had a cousin who walked on her toes... they took her to Mayo and she had casts put on (this was two years ago). She was in Kindergarted at the time. Anyway, they worked like magic, so I hope the same happens for Brandon.
Please keep us posted as you can.
Is it even more depressing that I'm reading blogs on a Friday night - not even doing my own? Ha.
It's amazing how resealant kids are. They just make do and don't really seem to know any different. Thanks for the pictures and glad to hear that it is working.

Jenny, I don't know if you remember me, but I remember your family from Alameda a few years back.
I read your news on Michelle's blog, and you are in my prayers. May God give you healing, strength and peace.
Jenny. - I attend Alameda and I met you after we moved back from TX, but then you moved. Anyway, that is not that important. I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you, God is powerful and so is prayer.
